Soother therapists

It’s like private practice, but better.

YOUR WHY

We care about you too

Mental health support has a lot of room for improvement in the UK and that includes the way therapists are treated.
Soother is therapist-founded and therapist-led. We know how costly training is, we understand the energy it takes and that you’ve had to navigate hours and hours of unpaid work. It’s time for that to pay off.

Soother is a space where therapists get the support and pay they need to perform at their best. Autonomy without isolation. Clientbase without exploitation.
We minimise the marketing, admin and insecurity that comes with running a private practice. We are a bolt on to your private practice, aiming to add without taking away. Streamlining your workload so you can focus on the therapy whilst we do the rest.

Why join Soother

You trained to be a therapist. You do the therapy, we’ll do the rest.

Fair pay

We pay competitive private practice rates and well above other online platforms and EAPs.

Freedom and flexibility

You manage your own availability, working as much or as little as you like, in line with your ethical guidelines. You work remotely from wherever you work best.

Save time on admin

No need to send invoices or even discuss payment with clients.

No marketing costs

No need to pay costly directory subscriptions or advertise your services. We are cost free and risk free.

How it works

Streamlined onboarding and flexible schedule.

1. Onboarding

We will collect relevant documentation from you to keep on file, (ID, ethical body membership, proof of qualifications, enhanced DBS check, proof of insurance). We will design your own therapy page with your photo, therapy details and a short bio.

2. Set your availability

You’ll receive a link to sync your calendar with your Soother booking page. Just manage your calendar as usual—your availability will update automatically.

Clients will only see and book the times you’ve marked as available.

3. Clients book sessions

Clients will either select you from our therapists page or you will be recommended to suitable clients based on their survey responses.

4. Therapy sessions take place

Remote therapy sessions take place just as they would normally in your private practice.

5. You get paid

Without invoicing or lifting a finger, you get paid at the end of the following month. Monitor progress and completed sessions on your therapist dashboard to keep track of your earnings.

  • What kind of therapists are you looking for?
We're looking for kind, reflective, and ethically minded therapists—whether you're more recently qualified or highly experienced. If you care about making therapy more accessible and you value working compassionately with unapologetically high professional standards and a deep respect for therapy, you’ll likely be a great fit.
  • Do I need to be accredited to work with you?
You don’t need to be accredited, but you must be a registered member of a professional body such as the BACP, NCS, or UKCP. We welcome both experienced therapists and those in the earlier stages of their practice. Aligning with our philosophy, understanding of what therapy is and approach is key; we can support you with experience or training where necessary.
  • What issues or client groups will I be working with?
Our client base is diverse. Clients are mostly employees accessing support through their workplaces from a variety of industries as well as individuals reaching out for personal therapy. You'll usually be matched based on your suitability or if clients browse our therapists and decide you’re the therapist for them.
  • How does payment work?
We offer competitive private practice rates. When therapists are overworked and underpaid, everyone loses. Not here. We will never expect any therapist to work for fees that they’re not happy with. Naturally qualifications, experience and geographical location must be taken into account but paying therapists fairly and promptly is central to our approach. You will be able to track completed sessions and you will be paid for sessions at the end of the following month.
  • Do you offer employed or self-employed roles?
Our therapist roles are on a self-employed basis. You have the freedom to set your hours of availability and we provide the clients, admin support and payment so you don’t have to spend time on those things. We’re a bolt on to your private practice that aims to make your work more life easier.
  • Can I choose how many clients I see?
Yes. You're in control of your availability and your caseload. Whether you're looking for just a few extra clients a week or something closer to full-time, we’re happy to work in a way that suits you. Simply block time out in your calendar when you’re not available to prevent bookings during that time. We do limit weekly caseload in line with ethical guidelines to prevent overworking our therapists. This ensures the highest level of care at all times for clients and therapists, (because you’re important too!)
  • Will I be supported as a therapist?
Absolutely. We value our therapists and understand how important support is. We offer regular check-ins and peer support opportunities. We want to offer the community feel that can sometimes lack in private practice. Autonomy without the isolation.
  • Can I access supervision through the practice?
While supervision isn’t included as standard, we’re happy to recommend trusted supervisors. For the benefit of our peer groups, we won’t offer in-network supervision initially. This is open to discussion so we welcome your views and are happy to discuss.
  • Is there room to grow within the practice?
Yes. We love to support therapists who want to develop—whether that’s taking on new client types, running workshops and courses, or helping shape the direction of Soother. We’re only as good as our therapists and we grow together.
  • Do I need to source my own clients?
No. We handle all client referrals, marketing, and onboarding. You trained to be a therapist. You do the therapy, we’ll do the rest. (Almost, you still need to do your taxes, sorry!)
  • How do bookings and cancellations work?
You manage your availability and clients book directly into your calendar, which is synced to your booking page on our website. You’ll be notified of any new bookings immediately, and we have clear cancellation policies in place to protect your time. No-shows or sessions cancelled within 24 hours will be paid in full.
  • What systems do you use for admin and notes?
You will be responsible for your own note taking, just as you would be in your own private practice. If this is something that you could do with extra support on, let us know and we can discuss building something in to make life easier.

If you have any questions not listed here, please feel free to contact us directly and we’ll be happy to help.
